If Marketing Feels Pointless Right Now, Read This.
It feels harder to create content these days.
There’s so much noise, and honestly, it can feel like no one is listening anyway. So… why bother? Beyond that, it just feels heavy. There’s so much happening in the world, and sometimes it feels like my little business doesn’t need to add to that noise right now.
These are thoughts I’ve been having myself lately, and they’re the same things I’ve been hearing from a lot of my clients, too.
If you’ve been feeling this way, you’re not alone.
There’s this constant question of: Should I keep showing up, or just step back altogether?
Here’s where I’ve landed.
I don’t think the answer is to disappear. But I also don’t think the answer is to just keep posting for the sake of posting.
I think the answer is to show up differently. To stand up for what matters to you through your words, your actions, and how you choose to run your business. To stay connected to your community. To keep going, even if it looks different from how it used to.
I genuinely believe that small businesses play an important role in creating stronger, more connected communities. When you run a business with intention, you’re contributing to something bigger than just marketing or sales. You’re building relationships, supporting others, and trying to leave things better than you found them.
So if all you can do right now is keep going in a way that feels aligned and sustainable, that’s enough.
And when it comes to marketing, I think this matters more than ever.
People don’t want to be sold to right now. They’re looking for connection. And the best way to do that is to actually connect.
That might look like:
Sharing something honest
Checking in with your audience
Having more one-on-one conversations
Being a real person instead of a perfectly curated brand
Content doesn’t have to be complicated to be effective.
You don’t need to write a Pulitzer Prize-winning blog post.
You don’t need to go viral.
You don’t need to show up everywhere.
You just need to show up in a way that feels real.
If you’ve been in a bit of a funk lately, consider this your sign to:
Post the thing you’ve been overthinking.
Say the thing that’s been sitting in your notes app.
Reach out to someone in your community.
You don’t have to do everything. You just have to start.
